I think this chapter gives confirmation that imu must be and can only be
defeated in the flower room/mariejoa.
He took 6 attacks from the most powerful people in the verse and didn't
flinch, because it does not affect him since he isn't really there and
cannot touch land. So the only way to beat him is to get to where he is
currently housed. Maybe rocks knew this and decided to invade the flower
room to see for himself, then realized he still couldn't beat imu.
I believe the strawhats will have to invade the flower room to defeat
imu, as he cannot be defeated anywhere else.

Personally I like how what we learn about rocks gives insight into why blackbeard's actions are legitimate today and that he is a tragic character who deserves sympathy. He started out pretty much being an asshole and then acquired incredible strength. Good to have all this backstory. It makes me excited to see him clash with several opponents in the battles ahead and I am curious if we might see some additional character development. So there definitely has to be a native hunt memory wipe at this point. Probably standard for the event. They've got hundreds of marines on the island(s, every 3 years), but only 1 guy in sengoku's memory has ever spread a rumor about it.Garp, whitebeard, kaido, and big mom all saw imu, who is so obviously not just st. Saturn that it'd be insane for them to pretend they didn't know. Not to mention that garp is still allowed to work for the navy despite both seeing and attacking imu.
This pretty much absolves garp of much of his wrongdoing as we expected would happen eventually in this incident as well, it took him 10 minutes on god valley to go punch imu in the face. So again, even more evidence that he got his memory wiped or forced into a devil's contract with imu directly to be the way he is afterward.
I love that I still can't tell if imu has the rules-rules, ink-ink, or devil-devil fruit even now. I still think rules-rules is the best bet by far but he definitely looks like an ink splotch here.
I think it's interesting that imu calls xebec's ancestor davy jones, not davy d. Jones. The scene clearly implies that imu has a personal relationship with jones similar to how he does with joyboy. So, imu might have known jones before jones became a d. telling us that the d. Is something contemporary to joyboy's time and the war. I'd call that a fine piece of evidence in favor of the d. Meaning a part of joyboy's crew or alliance.
Also, another great thing about the past two chapters is it showing us that apparently, supreme king haki isn't actually the secret to harming imu's regenerators. It just slows them down. I was pretty upset at how boring that weakness was. So now we can hope for an actually fun key weakness to make those upcoming fights interesting (usopp v. Killingham is back on the menu!)
