Rocks D. Xebec
Rocks D. Xebec, commonly known as Rocks, was the notorious captain of the Rocks Pirates and the father of Marshall D. Teach, one of the current Emperors. His ultimate ambition was to become the King of the World. Rocks was a significant figure four decades ago, long before the rise of the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger. He assembled one of the most formidable and infamous pirate crews in history. However, his reign came to an end during the God Valley Incident, where he was defeated by an alliance between Monkey D. Garp and Roger, which earned Garp the title of "Hero of the Marines."
Rocks was characterized by his extreme ambition, sadism, and cruelty, showing little regard for those he harmed in his quest for power. He led his crew in spreading chaos and destruction across the seas, attacking anyone who stood in his way, including World Nobles and their slaves. He displayed a complete lack of compassion, even towards children, as evidenced by his brutal treatment of a young giant named Loki.
Driven by his dream of becoming the King of the World, Rocks attacked numerous locations, leaving devastation in his wake to assert his dominance. His curiosity about the secrets kept by the World Government led him to explore many forbidden subjects, making him one of the few individuals to learn about the existence of Imu, the secret ruler of the world. According to Whitebeard, Rocks was often careless in his pursuits, losing focus on his objectives and acting independently. He famously stated that he would not accept "no" as an answer.
Rocks claimed to be a "worshipper of Davy Jones" and engaged in the pirate tradition of Davy Back Fights, using these events to recruit powerful pirates into his crew. Unlike others, he prioritized quality over quantity, carefully selecting high-profile and formidable individuals to join his ranks.
Rocks was renowned as one of the most powerful pirates in history, leading a crew filled with exceptionally strong members, many of whom had conflicting personalities. After the crew's dissolution, several members, including Edward Newgate (Whitebeard), Charlotte Linlin (Big Mom), and Kaidou, became infamous figures in their own right, forming three-quarters of the original Four Emperors during the Great Pirate Era. Another notable member, Shiki, emerged as a rival to Roger and Whitebeard after Rocks' death.
Before becoming a pirate, Rocks achieved the remarkable feat of killing a Marine Admiral, earning him a substantial bounty. He possessed immense superhuman strength, capable of destroying the Gate of Justice single-handedly and winning numerous Davy Back Fights against powerful opponents. His status as a formidable rival to Gol D. Roger was well recognized, and it took both Roger and Garp working together to finally defeat him. This defeat solidified Garp's legendary status and highlighted the threat Rocks posed to the World Government.
In addition to his raw strength, Rocks was also highly intelligent and knowledgeable. His studies of taboo subjects allowed him to uncover many secrets of the World Government, prompting them to erase his name from history after his defeat. Rocks was cunning and opportunistic, even stealing the Heavenly Tribute of the Celestial Dragons to fund his piracy.
As a swordsman, Rocks was exceptionally powerful, known for strikes that could obliterate anything in their path. His clashes with King Harald of Elbaph, an Ancient Giant, resulted in shockwaves that affected the surrounding area for miles. Rocks was one of the few individuals known to possess Supreme King Haki, which he could infuse into his sword, significantly enhancing its power.
Rocks primarily wielded a sword infused with his Haki but was also skilled with other weapons, including an axe and firearms, which he used during Davy Back Fights. He even employed a pistol during his confrontation with Imu at the Levely.
